This year the Knox County Barn Tour
will feature barns in
the northeastern corner of the county
in the townships of
Brown, Jefferson, and Union.
The Barn Tour offers a great opportunity to observe and reflect on days gone by in Knox County. The variety of barns and special events at each of the stops will enhance your experience of life on the farm that was centered around the family barn. The Barn is where the fruits of the fields were stored and processed for feed. It is where the livestock was born, raised and readied for market or for the family’s own table. It is where everyday chores, hard work, and friendly frolic such as barn dances took place. The more it is understood that our family barns have a way of recording history in their own way, the more barns will be saved and preserved for the enjoyment of future generations.
